New Commission to Extend and Renovate a Former Smithy
We have recently been appointed to sensitively extend and renovate this former smithy in Northumberland.
The existing cottage has a very distinct character and has a host of historical features which are to be protected at all costs.
To the rear of the property is a series of inappropriate 1960’s offshoot extensions.
It is proposed to remove the later additions and replace them with a single piece of coherent architecture. This will make the home practical for the client and their young family whilst ensuring that any new interventions protect and accentuate the character of the original building.
The proposed one and a half storey extension will provide a master bedroom suite, family bathroom, boot room, larder and dual aspect lounge / kitchen / diner.
